WHAT IS SKYSG7-VOLT 4V4 CUP?

SKYSG7-VLOT 4V4 CUP is a high-intensity small-sided tournament built for Singapore youth. We push young players to sharpen their technique, decision-making, and game understanding under real match pressure.

Rules & Regulations — 4v4 SKYSG7 CUP 2026

Tournament Philosophy
Inspired by the Japanese 4v4 development concept, this Cup is built to develop player independence and decision-making.
No coaching or parental instructions are allowed during games. Players make their own tactical decisions and substitutions.

Categories (Age Eligibility)

  • U6: Born 2020 or later

  • U8: Born 2018 or later

  • U10: Born 2016 or later

  • U12: Born 2014 or later

Girls Playing Down

  • Girls may play one age-group down (e.g. a 2017 girl can play U8).

  • A full girls team may also play one age-group down.

Squad Size

  • Max 6 registered players per team.

  • Only 4 players on the pitch at any time; remaining are substitutes.

  • Players cannot be registered for more than one team.

  • Players must be confirmed at least 48 hours before the tournament (late additions require approval).

Attire

  • Long football socks (no ankle socks)

  • Shin pads are compulsory

  • No jewellery

  • Teams must wear identical or colour-coordinated tops

Scoring System (Unique 4v4 Rule)

Goals have different values depending on where they are scored:

  • 2 points: goal from opponent half

  • 3 points: goal from inside opponent penalty box (including penalties)

  • 2 points: own goal

  • Goals scored from own half do not count (except own goals)

Match points:

  • Win = 3, Draw = 1, Loss = 0

League table tiebreakers:
Total Points → Goal Difference → Goals Scored → Head-to-Head → Coin Toss

Knockout tiebreaker:
Sudden death penalties (if still tied after all 6 take, coin toss decides).

Gameplay

  • Each game is 8 minutes, no halftime break

  • Minimum 3 players required to start

  • No throw-ins (ball off the side boards stays in play)

  • Ball hits ceiling net = opponent kick-in from nearest sideline point

  • Corner kicks are used

  • No offside

  • After a goal, the team that conceded restarts with goalkeeper possession

Walkovers

  • Late at kick-off: 1 goal conceded per minute (up to 3 minutes → 0–3)

  • If still cannot field min players after 3 minutes: walkover 3–0

Goalkeeper Rules

  • Hands only inside own penalty area

  • No drop-kicks

  • Goalkeeper restart can be throw/kick/dribble

  • Backpass rule applies

Substitutions

  • Rolling substitutions, unlimited

  • Referee must be informed

  • Substitutions only when ball is out of play / play stopped

Discipline & Venue Rules

  • Referee’s decision is final

  • Video evidence is not admissible for appeals

  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour / abuse may lead to dismissal or match abandonment

  • Smoking, vaping, fighting/unruly behaviour, and alcohol are strictly prohibited in the venue

  • Suspensions:

    • 2nd yellow in same game = send off + suspended next game

    • Red card = banned next 2 games

    • 2nd red in same tournament = suspended for rest of Cup

  • No medical coverage or personal accident insurance provided

  • Participants agree to take responsibility for their own health and safety

  • Organizers are not liable for injury, loss, or damages

  • Media release: organizers may use photos/videos for publications including web-based media
